Rory McIlroy Changes Schedule, Adds Valero Texas Open To Schedule At Last Minute A Week Before The Masters

Rory McIlroyNext week the top players in the world will head to Augusta, Georgia for the first Major championship in 2013. The Masters is certainly one of the great events in sports. But this week, players will get their last dose of tournament competition before making their way to the Masters, as the 2013 Texas Valero Open gets underway on Thursday.

As a testament to this, Rory McIlroy committed to play in the event this week on Friday, after making the cut at the Shell Houston Open right on the number. McIlroy has not had the success in 2013 that he enjoyed in 2012, and feels that he needs to get in some more tournament rounds before going to the Masters next week. Continue reading

Tiger Woods Back To No.1 In The World After 29 Month Absence

Tiger WoodsAt one point over the last 29 months, Tiger Woods fell all the way down outside of the top-50 in the World Golf Rankings. But on Monday, after his eighth win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Woods regained the top spot for the first time in more than two years.

Woods has now won three of his five total starts in 2013, and will next play at the Masters in the second week of April. Continue reading

Let’s All Appreciate What Stacy Lewis Is Doing On The LPGA This Season

Stacy LewisMost of the time on this blog we talk about the last event and happenings on the PGA Tour, but it’s time to give the ladies some love. In particular, one lady who is having an incredible start to the 2013 LPGA Season, becoming the new No.1 ranked player in the world.

American Stacy Lewis was the 2012 Rolex Player of the Year on the LPGA, and came into 2013 with some momentum.

After a win in Singapore a couple of week ago, Lewis followed that up with a win in Arizona for the second-straight event.

The victory vaulted her from No.3 to No.1, dethroning Yani Tseng’s reign at the top of the Rolex Rankings. Tseng was No.1 in the world for more than two years, culminating in 109 weeks at the top. Continue reading

Will Tiger Get Victory No.8 At Bay Hill This Week?

Tiger WoodsTiger Woods has certainly dominated his fair share of venues in his career, and none more so than when he goes to Bay Hill.

The PGA Tour rolls through Orlando this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where woods is a seven-time winner and the defending champion. Though unlike last year when he came in searching for his first victory in more than two years, Woods has won four times since that victory last year.

Two of those wins have come early in this season, back at Torrey Pines in the end of January, and the WGC Cadillac Championship two weeks ago. Continue reading
