2013 PLAYERS Championship Betting Odds + Info, Times, TV Coverage

The flagship event of the PGA Tour, the PLAYERS Championship, tees off on Thursday, May 9th and is scheduled to wrap up on Sunday, May 12th. Players will tee it up at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL on the Stadium Course with it's world famous 17th hole island green. It's worth noting that the headquarters of the PGA Tour is centered on the grounds at TPC Sawgrass so this event resonates a little more than some of the lesser events on the Tour.

The Golf Channel will have six hours of coverage on both Thursday and Friday beginning at 1pm ET. Then on the weekend, it will be five hours of Saturday and Sunday action (or until play concludes) with coverage beginning at 2pm ET on NBC.

The PLAYERS Championship

The PLAYERS Championship is the signature event on the PGA Tour. Often referred to as the 'fifth Major', the PLAYERS Championship garners one of the toughest and deepest fields in all of golf. It also sports the highest prize money to the first place winner, right around $1.8 million, and total purse of close to $10 million!

TPC Sawgrass is one of the most famous golf courses in the world. Their Par-3 No.17 might just be the most recognizable hole in the world as well. In fact, there is probably not a grander stage than No.16 green, No.17, and No.18 tee, as fans can see all the action from the side hill on No.17.

The PLAYERS Championship also earns the winner as many FedEx Cup points as a Major Championship, receiving 600 points.

What Happened In 2012?

Entering the final round on Sunday at the 2012 PLAYERS Championship, there were a host of players within two or three shots of the lead. And in fact, the lead changed hands several times that day. But it was the hometown boy, Matt Kuchar, who is from the area, which captured the championship; Kuchar's biggest victory in his career. Kuchar won the 2012 PLAYERS Championship by two shots over Martin Laird, Zach Johnson, Rickie Fowler, and Ben Curtis, as he shot at 2-under round of 70 on Sunday.

2013 PLAYERS Championship

All of the top players in the world will be on hand this week for the PLAYERS Championship, the signature event on the PGA Tour. TPC Sawgrass provides players and fan alike with a great field and venue for one ofthe most coveted championships in the game of golf.

Tiger Woods will make his return to the Tour for the first time since the Masters. It will be about a month off in between starts, but we should expect him to pick back up where he left off. Tiger Woods - 7 to 1 (+700): Despite having only won the PLAYERS Championship one time in his career, and that coming back in 2001, Tiger Woods odds to win the 2013 PLAYERS Championship are well beyond any other golfer on the board. In fact, he is more than twice the favorite as any other player in the field, set at 7/1.

Adam Scott & Rory McIlroy - 16 to 1 (+1600): Adam Scott, who won the 2013 Masters back in April, is also making his first appearance since slipping on the green jacket. Both he and Rory McIlroy are tied for second in the early odds to win at 16 to 1. While Scott won the PLAYERS Championship back in 2003, McIlroy has yet to capture the victory at TPC Sawgrass.

Luke Donald & Phil Mickelson: 22/1 (+2200): From there, the odds continue to jump up quite a bit. In fact, even in the top-five, bettors can get a payout of more than 20/1 or a return of $20 for every dollar wagered. Heading that group is Luke Donald and Phil Mickelson who are both slated at 22/1 odds to win this week to win the PLAYERS Championship.

Matt Kuchar - 28 to 1 (+2800): Matt Kuchar, who got the biggest win of his career by winning this event in 2012, is coming in at 28/1 to defend his championship. Can't ever count out the guy who it last year, and Kuchar is that guy in 2013.

First Round Leader Odds

The odds to win the PLAYERS Championship are not the only betting lines that you can take advantage of throughout the week. Not by a long shot. In fact, bettors can cash in on the action after just one round, with the first round leader betting lines formed. These odds are created for the leader after the first 18 holes. As you might expect, Woods is the favorite here as well. But his odds to win the PLAYERS Championship are better than the odds to be leading after the first round. A payout of 8 to 1 is set for Woods to lead after 18 holes, as compared to 7 to 1 to win the championship. That's because the odds for a player to shoot the low score over 18 holes is less than for 72 holes the eyes of oddsmakers. In fact, most player's odds are higher. Both McIlroy and Scott jump up from 16 to 1 to win, to 20 to 1 to lead after Round 1.

36-Hole Leader Odds

Odds to lead the tournament at the halfway mark of the 2013 PLAYERS Championship have also been formed, and will be available up to the start of the tournament on Thursday. The payout on Woods is even greater than his odds to win and lead the first round, set at 10 to 1. Scott and McIlroy follow suit, set at 18 to 1. As you can see, there is some solid profit margins even all the way at the top four favorites.

Top-5 And Top-10 Odds

If picking the outright winner doesn't quite suit you, bettors will also have top-5 and top-10 betting odds formed for most of the notable players in the field. This is a wager where the bet is placed on either the players finishing in the top-5, or the top-10, with the payout closer to even, but a profit still to be made. For example, Woods is set at -180 to finish in the top 10. That means for every $1.80 wagered on him to tab a top-10 finish, a $1 profit is made. It's quite a bit different than the 7 to 1 odds to win, but then again this gives bettors some wiggle room with the finish, so to speak.

In fact, for the PLAYERS Championship this week, there are also odds to finish in the top-20. This is not typically seen during regular Tour events, but with this being a big one, top-20 odds have been created.

PLAYERS Championship Prop Bets

There are a number of prop betting lines for the PLAYERS Championship this week, which cover a very wide range of topics. Bets from the top nationality of different countries are formed, as well as odds for players to make the cut.
